Not long ago, a mate from the automotive scene reached out to me with a real gem: a 1970 Ford Capri V6. This model is truly a crown jewel in Australian sports car history, a vehicle that made a lasting impact in the early 70s. Revamping the Interior with Retro Style

First up, we tackled the most pressing technical issues. The temperature gauges weren’t working, so we installed brand-new, reliable ones. Next, we focused on the interior, keeping Jhon’s preferences in mind: he wanted a sleek black-and-brown finish. We swapped out the original pilot-style switches for retro buttons that perfectly complemented the vehicle’s aesthetic. To make it all fit seamlessly, we crafted a custom base for these switches, ensuring both functionality and style.

Soundproofing and Sound: The Perfect Combo

The next challenge was soundproofing the car. The previous owner had glued the carpet down poorly, which made the process a bit of a nightmare. After several attempts and a lot of patience, we managed to fully soundproof the car’s flooring. This not only improved the driving experience but also provided the ideal foundation for the sound system we were about to install.

We fitted the Capri with a Match 5.4 DSP amplifier, enabling precise and personalised audio tuning. Up front, we installed Helix speakers for crystal-clear sound quality, while at the rear, we added classic 6x9s—a nod to the old-school approach we love. To round it off, we placed a powered subwoofer under the seat, achieving the perfect balance of power and subtlety.

The Magic of the Details

We completely redid the wiring, ensuring safety and efficiency throughout. We then dedicated an entire day to fine-tuning the sound system, adjusting every detail to ensure the cabin was not only soundproof but also delivered an unparalleled audio experience.
